Content Design

A lot of my content work has involved reaching out to stakeholders and helping them reevaluate their web presence. After relaunching the George Brown College website, I was on a mission to ensure  content matched the new, user-centric design.

Project Examples

George Brown Website Redesign

I was brought on as a Digital Planner for the complete overhaul of George Brown Polytechnic's website. In this capacity, I played a significant role in UX research, including developing personas, preparing card sorts, organizing focus groups, creating usability studies, and documenting findings for our stakeholders. I also conducted an audit of the whole site, working with stakeholders to determine what content needed to stay. As a result, I was able to eliminate over 1,000 pages. Once the new site launched, I was responsible for maintaining all additional subsites, ensuring content and design aligned with the overall brand.

George Brown Email Overhaul

I was seconded to George Brown's Digital Engagement team as a Senior Manager to transform how we connected with prospective students, applicants, and alumni. My goal was to personalize our email communications by identifying the specific needs of each audience and providing them with relevant content. I had a great team aligned with my thinking, and as a result, we saw increases in event attendance, open rates, and acceptance rates.

Content Design Examples

Counselling & Student Well-Being

I worked with folks in the Counselling department to completely redo their section of the website. Thankfully, they believed in being user-centric and understood what I call the “so what?” factor. For me, this is what people come to your site for and what they can get out of it. With this update, we put the department’s services front and centre, making their landing page easy to navigate.

Peerconnect

Peerconnect at George Brown does a lot of great work for students. Unfortunately, their web presence didn’t suggest this. There were no actionable things to do, no tangible ways to connect with them. I worked with their team to clearly define what they do and how they do it. Now their content has clear calls to action to encourage students to take part in Peerconnect programming.

Tutoring & Learning Centre

I worked closely with the Tutoring & Learning Centre to revamp their information architecture and update their content. They were very keen to do this and really understood their audience, so it was a great collaboration. Again, we wanted to bring their services front and centre, making it easy for students to book.
